Discovering the Iconic Merlion Park in Singapore

Singapore, a small island country in Southeast Asia, is an incredible place to visit. It's perfect for a vacation with your family and friends. Even if you're traveling alone, you can find affordable hostels to stay in. But the best way to enjoy Singapore is with your loved ones because there are so many exciting things to do here. You can explore the lively neighborhoods all day long and visit thrilling amusement parks. One of the most famous attractions is the Merlion Park, and I'll tell you about some interesting activities near this park.

The Merlion Park is a popular tourist spot in Singapore, located near One Fullerton. The main attraction here is a beautiful statue. This statue is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. It's also a fountain, with water flowing out of its mouth. This statue is an iconic symbol of Singapore, so it's a great place to take pictures. You can be creative and try to capture the water coming out of the statue's mouth. The park itself is peaceful and a perfect spot to spend a relaxing evening with your loved ones.

If you're wondering about the location and timings of the Merlion Park, here are some details:

- Location: Singapore

- Timings: Open 24 hours every day

- Entry Fee: Free

- Ticket: Not required

To reach the Merlion Park, there is no direct MRT station, but it's easy to get there using public transportation. If you prefer to travel by road, the nearest bus station is Fullerton Square. If you prefer the rail, the nearest MRT station is Raffles Place.

Now, let's talk about the things you can do when you visit the Merlion Park:

1. The Fullerton Hotel Singapore

To start off, I began snapping pictures of the Fullerton Hotel Singapore. It used to be the main post office but was transformed into a fancy hotel in 2001. I planned to revisit it on the evening of the 4 day, so I didn't spend much time there this time. In front of the hotel, I spotted a river cruise ship sailing along the Singapore River.

Leaving the Fullerton Hotel behind, I made my way to Merlion Park.

2. Merlion Park

Take a leisurely walk in the park. You can stroll around the Merlion Park and enjoy the beautiful view of Marina Bay. There are two iconic statues of the Merlion, which is a mythical creature with a lion's head and a fish's body. The lion spouts water from its mouth, creating a picturesque scene. It's a perfect place to capture the essence of the city and enjoy its beauty.

As the name suggests, Merlion Park is where you can find the famous Merlion statue. Some people say it's a bit disappointing, just like the Manneken Pis in Brussels, Belgium, or the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen, Denmark. However, I couldn't leave Singapore without seeing the Merlion, so I made sure to visit the park on the first day. By the way, did you know that there are five Merlion statues in Singapore? The original Merlion and a mini Merlion are located at Merlion Park, while the other three can be found at Sentosa Island, Mount Faber, and Tourism Court.

When I arrived at Merlion Park, I was surprised to see so many tourists, even though it was a weekday. Sometimes, you might find yourself waiting for people to clear out of a particular spot so you can take your photos. It can be frustrating, especially when the weather is scorching hot and all you want is a nice picture. But remember, patience is key!
